5 Tips to Decorate Your Apartment for the Fall

Matthew Tierce • Oct 06, 2020
As the weather turns crisp, and pumpkin spice everything has returned, it's time to get your apartment ready for the fall season. While you may not have tons of space to work with, you can still take advantage of adding some seasonal joy into your apartment home. We have a few easy ways for you to fill your home with the perfect autumn décor:

Decorate with the outdoors in mind.

While it may not be possible – or even all that appealing – to go traipsing around outside and pick up leaves and pinecones, go online or take a trip to your local craft store and bring the outdoors into your apartment. Purchase a large rustic pot or even decorative bowl and fill with colorful leaves, pinecones, and mini-pumpkins. Go to your local gardening store, ask them about fall flowers in bloom right now, and decorate your mantle with a beautiful flower arrangement.

Add some comfort.

As the chilly season looms closer, you and your guests will be drawn to comfort pieces. Add comfortable throw blankets to your seating areas and beside your bed. Select a color or print, like plaid, which can go well with the fall oriented pieces you already have chosen. On top of that, add throw pillows onto your couch and bed for display. Go with throw pillows that have an earth-tone print or autumn design.

Have fun with your lighting.

The days are getting darker, and you'll want to add a little more light to your home. Getting extra candles and tea lights can give your home a relaxed ambiance that goes well with this time of year. Best of all, get scented candles such as pumpkin, spiced apple, or forest scents. Adding string lights to your living room can add to the atmosphere and turn a seating area into a cozy nook.

Get artsy.

Since many of us are spending more of our time indoors, what better way to use our time than doing crafts? Carve a pumpkin or even paint one with Halloween in mind. You can easily find stencils online or in craft stores. Another fun craft idea is a fall-themed centerpiece. Take a bunch of mini-pumpkins and put them in a wooden bowl for an easy decoration.

Jazz up your entryway.

Whether or not you have guests coming anytime soon, decorating your entryway can give your apartment a much-needed fall boost. Add a fall wreath to your front door, and change out your welcome mat with a fall-themed one. If you have the space, put a small table by your front door with a bowl filled with treats to welcome your guests as they arrive.
Even though this year has been a particularly stressful one for all of us, adding these decorations to your apartment can give you a mood boost. We hope these tips inspire you to embrace the fall season.

If you rent the home in which you live, it is most likely covered for insurance by the property owner or property management company . However, you may still want to invest in renter’s insurance to ensure your personal belongings are protected as a tenant . Some people wonder if renter’s insurance is an unnecessary expense, and determining if the investment is suitable for you will depend on your particular circumstances. Renter’s insurance protects you and your belongings in the case of inevitable tragedies such as burglaries resulting in significant theft or medical coverage of someone else who is injured in your rental home. While conducting thorough research into renter’s insurance policies is advised before making your decision, here are some of the significant benefits of the coverage to know about. Third-Party Liability Coverage of third-party liability is one of the main reasons people invest in renter’s insurance. When people visit your home, there is a chance that injury could occur for any particular reason. While your landlord’s insurance does not cover these issues, renter’s insurance will. For example, if your friend is injured and his personal property is damaged in the incident, the renter’s insurance would pay for medical expenses and repair of the damaged property. Protection Of Your Valuables In addition to providing third-party liability, renter’s insurance protects your personal belongings against theft and certain types of damage. While all damage to personal property is not typically covered in the policies, damage from flooding or fire and most emergencies that damage your valuable will be covered so you can replace those items. Different Renter’s Insurances Offer Different Coverages As in any other type of insurance, not all renter’s insurance policies are created equally. You must understand your choices before you sign on the bottom line. Some policies may cover just your personal property while others may only cover third-party liability, and still, others may combine both in their coverage. You may also want to consider opting for inflation coverage so that you can cover the value of your belongings at the rate of inflation. Shop around to determine which renter’s insurance policy is best for you. Renter’s Insurance Limitations You should be aware that many renter’s insurances policies limit the amount of money you can receive for replacement or loss of valuable items. Such items could include antiques, jewelry, artwork, and technology. Make sure you read the policy’s fine print carefully before signing it to ensure you are fully aware of what you are purchasing.
